Western Region Officiating Report
November 20, 2003

Western Region is beginning the year on a good first step. We held 2 Level 1 Clinics along with 2 Level 2/3 Clinic's throughout the month o f October. Unfortunately we had to eliminate a Level 1 and a Level 2;/3 clinic due to the lack of participants registered. The final costing is in to the Treasurer and all reports that are to be submitted to the ORA office will be complete before month end.

November is the beginning of the Tournament Season for Ringette and West has now seen 3 Events be completed. London, Exeter, and Elora/Fergus all hosted tournaments this last weekend. I have received all paperwork for the London Tournament and the schedule from the Elora/Fergus Tournament but have yet to get any submission from the Exeter Tournament.

The London Tournament saw a number of Officials receive evaluations with a Provincial, Regional, and Community Level evaluators at this event. Unfortunately not all officials could be evaluated at this event but many of those that are looking for an upgrade were seen. I remind all Referee in Chiefs that a list of your Official's you are planning to use for your tournament and a schedule showing when and where they will Officiate is to be in the Officiating Chairs possession no later that 2 weeks before your event so that it may be reviewed and hopefully so I can schedule the appropriate evaluators to be at you Tournament. After the completion of your event a complete schedule showing any changes and assignments for the finals should be sent to the Officiating chair no later that 1 week after the event. THIS MUST BE DONE!!!

We have 5 participants that will be taking the community evaluators' course in Nepean this weekend and will begin evaluating in December. Welcome aboard to all participants you will be in great demand from your Region.

I have asked that all A/AA Loop games be sent to myself via email with the officials scheduled for these games so that hopefully evaluators can be sent to try to begin the movement of these officials. I have not received consistent replies from any Association. If these Teams and these officials want to improve at this level and if they want to experience the level of Officiating they will see at Tournaments then your home officials need to have an evaluator come and help guide them to the level these at which these teams are going to play.

In conclusion I believe this year is starting off on a good note and hopefully this will continue throughout the year. If you have any concerns, problems, questions, or compliments about any official please do not hesitate to contact myself via the contact numbers etc listed on the Western Region Web page.
