The A/AA League held their first meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 13 in Dorchester. Plans were made for the season and teams will begin playing in earlier October. The Officiating Committee of Western Region will be assigning Offficials for all AA games in the League this year.

The new President of the League is Peter Westelaken of St. Marys.

SHOT CLOCKS will continue to be used in all divisions this year. Shot clocks are presently located in Mitchell, St. Clements and Dorchester. These associations will be responsible for making sure they are in running order. The shot clock reservation form is available on the website for your use. Please reserve you clock early so we can make arrangements for you to receive it.

The AAA team has been chosen. There were approximately 110 girls who tried out for the team. I am sure the coaches had a difficult selecting the team. They have played 2 games against Central Region on September 11 in St. Thomas. Between the games, the girls and coaches worked with players from St. Thomas improving their skills. They next play on September 24 in Dorchester when they challenge Southern Region. Good Luck to both players and coaches.

The Challenge Cups have been a challenge. There were no associations who volunteered to host the second and third cup. The first Challenge Cup will be held in North Bay with the second in Pickering. At the present time, it looks like the third cup will be held in Timmins. Of course, the finalization of these places will take place this weekend at the Board meeting.

The Winter Games will be held in Collingwood with Ringette being played in Barrie. Ringette will be played the first part of the week.

Come out and watch exciting Ringette and support the teams.

The AAA team is looking for ice for practice and scrimmages. They are willing to run clinics for players in exchange for an hour or two of ice. Remember they represent our region(you) so please consider giving them ice.

A slogan contest was held over the summer for a new logo for the Winter Games teams. At the August SCM the slogan 6 TEAMS ONE DREAM was selected for the new poster announcing the AAA teams and Challenge Cup dates.

Respectfully submitted,
