Meeting called to order at 7:50pm. No new items were added to the agenda. Motion to accept the minutes of the October meeting made by London and seconded by Forest. Carried Items Discussed: Scheduler’s Report: There is a need for ice for the London Petite team that has been bumped to Provincial. Any associations that can help out, please email Scott Borland. Game changes seem to be going smoothly. Just a reminder to inform the convenor, ice scheduler and referee-in-chief of any schedule changes as soon as possible. Short notice is difficult when scheduling refs. Scott was looking for insight on when to end the schedule based on when the season was to end. He is also looking for direction regarding March break and Easter weekend. There was lots of discussion around available ice to assist Scott with scheduling playoffs. Each association is asked to forward an email to Scott listing all their available ice time. Scott will schedule the format based on sudden death and he will look to avoid March Break. Home teams will be responsible for paying for the ice and the referee’s. Treasurer’s Report: Balance in account is $8625.24 All outstanding bonds have been paid. Exeter still owes travel money $114 and London owes $37.50 for the new Provincial petite team. Motion to accept the Treasurer’s report made by St. Clements and seconded by Elora- Fergus. Carried Official’s Report: Tania is not present and no report was sent. One item to table: Peter to talk to Tania regarding the shortage of referee’s on occasion. Convenor’s Report: Petite – life is good Tween – life is good Junior – no issues Belle – no issues Open – Waterloo needs to provide the name and contact information for the convenor of the Open division. Please email to Peter Westelaken, ASAP. Elite Report: Bench staff reminder: Only qualified coaches can be on the bench after January 8th, 2008. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS. Online Ethics is available and must be completed by January 8th, 2008. Ad-Hoc Committee’s Report: A/AA Tryout Process There has been some activity but no report as of yet. League Rules This committee will be meeting soon. No report as of yet. Webmaster’s Report: Keith will adjust the date dropdown to include 2008 Keith was advised that some University teams are not in the drop down list. Keith will investigate. G & T’s Report: AA Prelims are scheduled for the Guelph tournament February 1 – 3. We will be using the round robin games against the other Western Region teams. Once out of the round robin it will depend on who is playing as to whether the games can be used for Prelims. Championship games may need to be played after the Guelph tournament. Games are currently scheduled for 15 minute periods due to the ice shortage. Number of teams per division across the province: Open A – 19 teams, only 2 have met the requirements to attend Provincials Belle AA – 11 teams, only 2 have met the requirements Belle A – 20, only 3 teams have not met the requirements Junior AA – 12, all have met the requirements Junior A – 16, only 1 team has not met the requirements Tween AA – 10 maybe 11, all have met the requirements Tween A – 20, only 2 have not met the requirements Provincial Petite – 29, all have met the requirements There is some concern with the number of major penalties being handed out.
