Schedule Review:
After much discussion we as a group must come up with a final plan for scheduling. Do we need to set a deadline for AA and A tryouts to better streamline tryouts, releases and declarations? Please send all suggestions to Scott Borland and Peter Westelaken. A decision on scheduling will be made at the January 2007 meeting for the upcoming season.
Open A from London would like to see even home and away games. Next half they would like to see more away games than home.
Job well done Scott.

Wildcard Selection Process:
Janet Logan explained how the wildcard selection process is going to work for the 2006 2007 Seasons provincials. There was a lot of discussion on how this will and will not work. Some associations feel that this will hurt small town A teams as they do not have the funds to enter a lot of out of region tournaments.
Janet Logan is in charge of the charts on the team rankings. These will be displayed on the ORA website for everyone to monitor how teams are doing.
The AA selection process will use all tournament results up to and including the weekend of February 2 4, 2007.
The A selection process will use all tournament results up to and including the weekend of February 16 - 18, 2007. This does not include the Western Region Prelims.
Important to send your stats in on time.
This is what teams are out there at present time. Totals DO NOT INCLUDE Northwest Region as they have not declared any A or AA teams yet.
Petites - 25 Provincial teams.
All teams who are declared AA after the Whitby tournament will go to AA Provincials. (No set number for Petite AA) The rest of the provincial teams declared A have a chance at going to the A Provincials (depending on number of teams, maximum of 10 teams can go to the A Provincials)
Tween A 24 teams Tween AA 12 teams
Junior A 17 teams Junior AA 13 teams
Belle A 21 teams Belle AA 11 teams
Open A - 13 teams Open AA 5 teams
Both A and AA Provincials will take a maximum of 10 teams.
The way they figure out wild cards could change for the 2007 2008 Provincials. Send your comments and feed back to Janet Logan on team rankings and how the wild card process is being handled this year.
**** The way the system is set up this year.
You can earn a wildcard first then win prelims second. ******
2008 Host Associations:
London Open A would like to see a home and home series played instead of playing in prelims. This way they can enter the Ajax tournament. This will have to be discussed by the Prelim Committee.
Peter asked that all associations read over the Western Region Games and Tournament Report.
Chris Beuglet:
The applications to host Provincials 2009, must be in by March 31, 2007. If interested please submit your application.
The adhoc committee must make decisions by January 27, 2007 for the 2008 Season.
Chris advised us to email our thoughts in ways to improve provincials to him. Ask the players as they are the ones playing in provincials. Any idea is opened. Submit your ideas ASAP. **There is still time to make changes for the 2008 PROVINCIALS **
MOTION was made by Chatham and seconded by Waterloo. That we draft a letter on behalf of our league "Western Ontario Ringette League" indicating our concerns about the wild card process and how it may potentially affect our sport. Carried.
Bill Rodgers and Ken Rowe have agreed to draft a letter and send to Peter so that this league can voice their concerns over the Wild Card Process for 2007.
All associations are asked to send concerns to Bill: bill.rodgers@monsanto.com & Ken: kj.rowe@sympatico.ca by Friday October 20, 2006.
A final letter will be drafted using all the information supplied. It was suggested that Keith Kasier help with this also.
The ORA board meets November 17, 2006 and the letter needs to be sent before then to the President, Vice President and Secretary of ORA. (it was suggested to send the letters to their homes)
If you have any questions on how the wild card process will be handled for this year contact Janet Logan or Chris Beuglet.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
