Belle AA – Open A Craig Richardson Paul Smith

Games scores not submitted: BAA19, BAA27, BAA28, BAA30, BAA31 & BAA35.

Five of the above six games involve the UoG Open Team.

New contact for UoG should improve communication going forward.

Richmond Hill Belle A (Shorkey) team has been moved up to Belle AA.

Currently being appealed by Richmond Hill Belle A (Shorkey) team to ORA.

Any teams affected by the appeal have the right to be part of the process.

Number on Front of Jerseys

Western Region is checking in to ORA expectations. Once this becomes clear our region will communicate to all of the associations on the requirements and timing that need to be met. Rules and timing may be different for AA/A Provincials versus B/C Regionals.

Playoff Format Discussion

Lengthy discussion surrounding playoff format, ice out early, Regionals, tryouts AAA/AA/A Tryouts, March Break, B/C playoff schedules…

Petite will have a two conference format, 4 teams in one, 5 teams in the other.

Petite Convenor will provide the Petite Playoff Schedule detail.

In all other divisions, 3^rd will play 2^nd (at home), winner will play 1^st (at home).

Deadline for Standings: AA – Wednesday, February 25^th at 11:59 pm.

A – Saturday, March 7th at 11:59 pm.

Any of the top 3 teams that do not want to participate in the WORL playoff format need to inform their convenor by the appropriate Deadline for Standing’ date.

2nd place teams need to provide ice times ASAP.

Region is accepting AAA Coaching applications until February 15^th, 2009.

AAA age change to eligible player age range, born 1991 or later.

Belle players attending university, must play for their “permanent home address” region, where they played their “youth ringette”.

Some details still need to be confirmed, such as Belle players playing Open eligibility & total team roster size – clarification forthcoming from the region when they find out.

Formation of ADHOC Committee to review A/AA Tryout & Selection Process

Chris Beuglet provided an update from the ORA Board regarding the discussion document on the formation of A/AA teams. Basically, we continue to run our own region as we see best.

There was discussion among our members on the Closest Association versus Chosen Association topic. At the upcoming ORA Board meeting, a vote will be held. Input and concerns should be prepared and provide to our Chairperson Chris Beuglet.

An adhoc committee was formed to review effectiveness of 2008 A-AA Tryout and Selection Process. Mike Reid (Waterloo), Ken Rowe (Elora-Fergus), Gary Ryan (Mitchell) and Mike Guiler (London) have stepped up and volunteered their time to be a part of this committee. Please see the attached email from our President, Peter Westelaken that clearly outlines the subject.
