W.O.R.L. Meeting January 11, 2005

  1. December Minutes were accepted by Chatham seconded by Mitchell.
  2. Janet Logan gave the G. & T. report. Provincial seeding was done the weekend of January 7 – 9. The Provincial Petites that have been seeded AA is as follows – Whitby 1,
  3. Whitby 2, Ajax 1, Nepean 1, Ottawa 1, Gloucester 1, Jordan, Dorchester, St. Marys and St. Clements.

There will be prelims for Tween AA and Jr. AA. Games will be best 2 out of 3 one home game, one away game and if necessary game 3 will be on neutral ice. Officials will be set up by Bill Kaiser.

Provincials for AA will see 10 teams in the Petite division and 7 teams in all other divisions. The following wildcards will be available for AA; Tween – 2, Junior – 2.

    A wildcards – Petite - 3, Tween – 3, Junior – 1, Belle 1.

There was much discussion on how the Petite division is seeded. Many felt grouping all A and AA teams together until January before making the split is not working. The weaker A teams are being blown away by the AA teams, which does not make for competitive games for either team. Janet asked for all concerns to be in writing and handed in to her as soon as possible regarding this division. If you are in favour of how this division is run, you are also to voice your opinion. Next season the Tween division will be set up in the same manner as the Provincial Petites have been set up.

Wildcard applications MUST be handed in to Janet prior to your team’s first game at the Prelims. Along with this, also include your team record to date, which includes all tournament scores and league play. If you have tried to enter a tournament but did not get in please indicate this on your application as well. Indicate whom you talked to and reason for not being accepted.

First place after Prelim tournament will indicate Western Regions selection for Provincials. Second place team will be wildcard applicant. If there is more than one wildcard spot the same number of wildcards entries will be accepted.

  4. Keith’s report; there are still a fair number of game sheets being submitted that have not been filled out correctly. For the second half of our season it will be mandatory that game sheets be filled out correctly.
  5. Conveners reports; only problem seemed to be the number of games that still had to be played which were to be completed in first half. All games must be played by February 11.
  6. Chuck Weber expressed disappointment in the fact that Waterloo petites had to travel to Forest again when Forest had not made the trip to Waterloo. That was resolved by changing a game with Chatham. Then Chuck asked why his team could not play in the upper half of the schedule and it was decided that the teams had been split after the last meeting so they would stay as they are now.

  7. Tween AA Eastern Region Championships will be held in Fredricton New Brunswick. Be sure to hand in your intent to attend forms to Luc before Provincials.
  8. Scott Borland – scheduling. London has a petite team that was moved up to the A level. How to include this team into the schedule that has already been made out? It was decided that this team would be included into the top half of the A schedule which includes the AA teams.
  9. New Business; London Open A team would like some away games to play. Please call Jenna at 451-9347 if you have ice available and would like an exhibition game.
  10. Mitchell and Guelph motioned to go home.
