Belle A review resulted in Richmond Hill Belle 1 (Shorkey) being re-seeded to the Belle AA division. The 3 Western Region teams that also were reviewed Chatham, Exeter and London remain at A. There is likely to be an appeal of our (G&T) decision by the Richmond Hill team. Chris Beuglet can explain the appeal process.
Teams that are participating in tournaments are required to inform their G&T coordinator of any Misconduct or Match penalties that either their team or their opponent incur during tournament play. These penalties must be reported within 48 hours by both teams.
If you are aware that you will require a player substitution for a tournament inform your G&T coordinator before the tournament not after. It is a wise thing to do.
The G&T Committee is looking at issues surrounding tournaments and their application and selection processes as it pertains to the Provincial teams and Wild Card rankings. We are currently looking for a Provincial level coach from Western Region preferably within the ranks of the Provincial Petite or Tween age division to be a part of the Ad Hoc group.
The G&T Committee has also been asked to work on the issues with Northeast tournaments having difficulties attracting Provincial level teams from other regions. We will also be addressing the current policy of exemptions to the two-tournament rule.
We need HOSTS for both the AA and A Provincial Events in 2010 and 2011. The specific dates are on the ORA website in a Membership Notice. Deadline for applications is March 31, 2009. Any questions can be directed to Western Region G&T or the Provincial G&T Committee Chair.
Prelims for AA:
Only results for round robin games between the Western Region teams are used.
Team that finishes with the most points among the Western Region teams using just these games will be declared Region Champ.
If teams finish with same records then the following tie-breaking will be used:
If tied teams are involved in a final against one another then the winner will be declared region champion
If tied teams are not involved in a final against one another then the ORA Tournament Tie-breaking rules will be used. Game results will only be among the Western region teams.
If teams are still tied then the team with the highest ranking on the ORA Wild Card Ranking Charts.
TRFs and Roster Checks:
Keith has sent out an e-mail to all Registrars to have them check on the TRFs for their association teams. Please make sure that you contact your Registrar to verify that the TRF that you signed in the fall is the TRF that is on the registration system. The only differences should be if an Information Change Form was submitted to either add or remove someone from the roster.
Jersey Numbers:
Get them on the jerseys before Provincials start. Ramifications of not having them have not yet been determined.
