Cross Conference League Play
Western Region recognizes that each season there are situations that occur where the opportunity does not exist within the existing league/conference structure to meet the needs of every individual team. Western Region also understands that there are times when the ambitions of individual teams may conflict with the requirements of their home league and conference. To insure proper structure and communication to manage these situations the following policy has been established. For the 2004/2005 season this policy is in effect and from then on becomes part of the standard policy for review process, open for discussion and modification each season.
A team seeking to participate in league play out of its home conference must make the initial request to its’ home association President. The Home Association President, if the Home Association supports the request, makes a request in writing to their League/Conference President. The League/Conference President, id the conference supports the request, will then approach the League/Conference President where the team wishes to participate. The final decision will be an agreement between the League/Conference Presidents with a copy to the Western Region Executive.
A separate process and agreement must be initiated and agreed upon for each team (no blanket association arrangements) and the agreement may include commitments to both league/conferences.
All agreements are for the current season only and each situation must be redefined and agreed to as new each year to protect the changing dynamics of the sport within the regions and support potential internal league growth. There will be no grandfathering of existing agreements.
The League/Conference Presidents in addition to authorizing the agreements will also lay the ground rules covering detail such as but not limited to:
All contested decisions will be resolved by the Games and Tournaments League committee with any appeals of their decision following the existing region appeal process.
